1. FG to decides on interstate travel ban next week
The Presidential Task Force on COVID- 19 said it had started reviewing the guidelines for lifting of the ban on interstate travels.
Speaking at the daily press briefing of the PTF in Abuja , the National Coordinator of the task force, Dr Sani Aliyu , said the roads would be opened when the bus termini in the country all had COVID- 19 preventive measures in place .
Aliyu stated this as the PTF Chairman, Boss Mustapha , disclosed that the Federal Government would next week decide on its lockdown policies, including the ban on interstate movements.
2. APC is a solid party, Despite the crisis – Bello
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Monday said despite the leadership crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress, the party remained a solid one .
Bello said this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after joining other state governors from the North Central to meet with the Chief of Staff to the President , Prof Ibrahim Gambari , at the Presidential Villa , Abuja.
He expressed the confidence that the party would emerge from the crisis bigger and more united.
3. APC peace panel gets 170 petitions, blames COVID-19 for delayed sittings
All Progressives Congress National Reconciliation Committee has received 170 petitions from aggrieved party members across the country.
Senator John Enoh, the committee ’s Secretary disclosed this in an interview with one of our correspondents on Monday, said the COVID- 19 pandemic and the subsequent ban on interstate movements made the panel to suspend its sittings across the country.
Enoh said this as the President , Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd.) , and the APC governors on Monday intensified efforts to prevent the party from disintegrating.
4. Plateau threatens fresh lockdown amid rising cases, noncompliance with protocols
He noted that another lockdown might be essential due to the flagrant disregard to the pandemic protocols by a sizeable population of the state.
‘The government, therefore, warns that it will not hesitate to restore the lockdown earlier lifted by Governor Simon Bako Lalong as it views with dismay the non-compliance with regards to the wearing of face masks, social distancing, hand washing and the use of sanitizers.’
5. Appeal Court affirms N5.9b judgment against Multichoice Nigeria
Lagos Court of Appeal has affirmed the judgment of a Federal High Court, Lagosm which awarded about N5.959 billion in favour of the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) against Multichoice Nigeria Limited as damages.
Ogbuinya Obande Festus, the trio of Justices, Gabriel Omoniyi Kolawole and Balkisu Bello Aliyu dismissed the appeal filed by Multichoice Nigeria Limited on ground of being unmeritorious.
They noted that the appeal sought re-visitation and alteration of the judgment to reflect mathematical calculation of special damages against the appellant and that it was totally divorced from seeking a reversal of the entire judgment.
6. COVID-19: 675 new cases reported, total now 20,919
Nigeria has recorded 675 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 20,919.
675 new confirmed cases and 7 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
