DON'T REPORT INSECURITY AS RISING, USE 'DECLINING' INSECURITY, BUHARI TELLS JOURNALISTS

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, has advised journalists on how to report insecurity issues in the country.   In a statement titled ‘President Buhari Felicitates With Muslims On Eid-el-Maulud, and signed by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Monday, October 18, Buhari said the term 'rising insecurity' should be replaced with the “reality of declining insecurity.” According to the statement, significant gains are being made in combating Insecurity.’ It read, “The President urges Muslims to strive for “forgiveness and closeness to the noble life and teachings of the Prophet (SAW) whose birthday is being marked on this blessed day. 25-year-old man kills 50-year old man over woman in Ogun

A 25-year-old man, Bisi Omoniyi, was on October 15, arrested by operatives of Ogun state police command for killing a 50 years old man he met at his woman friend's house.   The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the police in Owode Egbado divisional headquarters, that a young man has matched another man to death in Ajilete town.    Upon the distress call, the DPO Owode Egbado, CSP Olabisi Elebute quickly mobilized the divisional patrol team to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested, and the victim was rushed to hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, Akinyemi Wahab Alani a.k.a Ajiolopon was with his woman friend one Kafayat Sakariyau in her room apartment at Ajilete purposely to pass the night with her when the suspect, who also intended to pass the night with the same Kafayat came knocking but was denied entry. FORMER SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL PLAYER BEATEN TO DEATH AFTER BEING ACCUSED OF STEALING ELECTRICITY CABLES

Two suspects have been arrested for the murder of former South African football player, Lucky Maselesele.    The 41-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United and Black Leopards midfielder was allegedly beaten to death by community members after being accused of stealing electricity cables. Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, October 16, said police received a complaint of community members assaulting an unknown man on Wednesday night.  "When the police approached, the group ran away, and the police managed to apprehend two suspects," Masondo said. "It is alleged that the deceased was accused by the community of stealing electrical cables in the area. He was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics." The deceased had since been identified as Maselesele.Masondo said both suspects were charged with murder, and one had since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court.The matter was...

HOW HUNDRED YEARS OLD TREE FELL, ROSE AGAIN IN 24 HOURS

Mystery, each time it happens, makes history. The rich history of Africa rides so much on some of the historic happenings and events that have occurred. One of such cases is what the Saabo Community, Oyo town in Oyo state witnessed on Monday, 4th of October 2021, at about 6:30 pm when a tree, popularly referred to as ‘Igi Odan’ fell due to a heavy windstorm. The tree was said to have been planted about a hundred years ago by a sango worshipper, Sangoleke Ojelabi. The bizarre sight had turned the scene into a tourist attraction as residents trooped to the place to see the reported wonder. This development has raised an ongoing conversation between divinity, science and mystery. ANAMBRA DEPUTY GOV OKEKE JOINS APC, MEETS BUHARI IN ASO VILLA

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Nkem Okeke, has dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a report by Channels Television, Wednesday. The deputy governor’s defection may be seen as a huge political blow against APGA which is the ruling party in Anambra State, considering the fact that the governorship election in the state is scheduled to take place on November 6. Mr Okeke was received on Wednesday at the Presidential villa, Abuja, by President Muhammadu Buhari, the outlet reported. He was led to the Presidential Villa by the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni, and the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, according to the Channels Television’s report. EARLY LIFE Saddam, the son of peasants, was born in a village near the city of Tikrīt in northern Iraq. The area was one of the poorest in the country, and Saddam himself grew up in poverty. His father died before he was born, and he went at an early age to live with an uncle in Baghdad. He joined the Baʿath Party in 1957. In 1959 he participated in an unsuccessful attempt by Baʿathists to assassinate the Iraqi prime minister, ʿAbd al-Karīm Qāsim; Saddam was wounded in the attempt and escaped first to Syria and then to Egypt. He attended Cairo Law School (1962–63) and continued his studies at Baghdad Law College after the Baʿathists took power in Iraq in 1963.
